Ku Mahu (Theme song of serial drama Spa-Q)
I liked this song since it’s a very catchy song. Latin-influenced style.
Melawan Kesepian
A sad song. I like the chorus part where Siti ‘drag’ the phrases… haaaa….. (I hope you guys understand)
Mulanya Cinta
The song which Siti performed in her first theatre performance – P.Ramlee The Musical. The melody sounded very Chinese-influnced kind of commercial pop song.
Tanpa Kalian
Slow starting… coming to a catchy bridge and chorus. I love the lyrics in the chorus. I could feel the message that Siti wanted to tell her fans. Compared to “Bisakah”, that song was more to asking for forgiveness but this one is more to share her happiness and appreciation to us. If you notice, Tanpa Kalian & Sutramaya share something similar… Guess what? *
Biarkan
This song sounds like Kelly Clarkson type. For those who complaint that Siti is not going international, this has prove you wrong! Going international, you do not have to be like Rihanna, Justin Timberlake or Beyonce…
Kerana Dirimu
A light ballad. Frankly speaking, I do not like the first few verses until the song reaches the bridge and chorus.
Hati (Theme song of Hati Malaya)
The theme song of Hati Malaya. Carrying a very strong patriotic message.
Wanita
Very melodic and catchy. Meaningful lyrics as well. The first thing which came to my mind when I saw the title of this song was Siti’s old song – Lelaki (which was featured in her “Pancawarna”). It’s a total opposite and contrast between these two songs. My personal favourite.
Cintamu
Slacking a bit in the lyrics but it’s sure a good tune.
Sutramaya
This another of my personal favourite. It shares similarity with Tanpa Kalian… Can you guess what’s that? *
Sekian Lama
It’s a slow ballad which made me feel similar to her previous slow ballads.
Over all, Hadiah Daripada Hati (HDH) is not the best album by Siti but it’s not the worst. Perhaps because of the growing age of Siti and her fans, the kind of music that we all are looking for are very much different now compared to last time. Last time, we may love the kind of music which is simple and carrying direct message. Slowly, Siti changed her style to using ‘flowerish’ words (bahasa berbunga-bunga) in her songs. More to maksud tersirat which we all have to learn up to digest the meaning of each word to understand the whole song.
Well, in my collection, my personal favourite album from Siti will still be E.M.A.S. It’s the best album ever produced by her team. And Bukan Cinta Biasa had actually carried her to where she is currently. It’s a magical song which everyone listens to it and fall in love with it.
To me HDH is more to adult contemporary which is more suitable for easy listening and the meaning of all the songs here are now not like ‘cinta monyet’ anymore. You can really feel the love of Siti in each and every songs in HDH.
*The similarity of Tanpa Kalian and Sutramaya is that both of these songs have a special kind of ending. They end differently from every other song in the album. For Tanpa Kalian, the song ended with an acoustic version of the chorus. Sutramaya ending without even finishing the last line of the chorus! That’s something special!
