Mukhsin

Watching this movie is like going back to my childhood. The story is so sweet but yet bitter. A very cute love story between this two young kids - Orked & Mukhsin which actually reflects out the pureness of a love story.
Although their love is just a short one, it really shows the uncertainty between the two characters and the good acting of both the actors are quite convincing as well.
The best part of the movie which I like most was when Orked’s mom, pretending to hit her when the naughty boy’s parents came to their house to complain about Orked throwing the boy’s bag outside the school bus. Her mom was just beating the bed while Orked yelling "in pain"! Hahaha!!! Hilarious! Additional to that, they chatted about menstruation while pretending "giving Orked a lesson".
Someone worth mentioning too in the movie is the girl who "force" Orked to play "kahwin-kahwin" (bride & groom). This girl is so "hateable" and she carried her character well; being a naughty and hateable girl. She always "convey messages" from her mother to tease Orked. "Emak aku kata…" (My mom says…)
Besides their love story, this movie also shows the true scenario happening surrounding us; abuse, suicide, poligamy, drinking, smoking, prostitution & inter-racial relationship. These are not hidden from the viewers but yet not emphasized strongly. Just short features to create awareness. Great work!
There is also a scene to tell us that "Jason" and the original "Orked" (in Sepet) are now living together with a baby. Although they are not the main casts and they do not carry the name "Jason" and "Orked" in Mukhsin, I accept it as they are together as the ending of Sepet did not tell what has happened to Jason. (But it actually does in Gubra). Anyhow, I’m happy that Ng Choo Seong & Sharifah Armani are featured in this movie.
A movie worth keeping in my collection…
